I'm attempting to build my Template Library with custom properties. In my case, I need custom properties to be specific to certain takeoff items rather than "all liner", "all area", etc... So I create my Custom Property with the "Hidden By Default" option selected. I can then go into all of my takeoff templates and select which custom properties I want to use in that template, using the gear icon at the top right of the window. The problem is, this doesn't save the custom property to the takeoff template. Rather, it looks like I need to use that gear icon every time I want to use the custom property in a certain takeoff template. I'm not sure if this was by design or not, but it would be nice to have the properties save to the template item.
My best guess as to how this meant to work is don’t hide anything until you’re finished building. then hide anything/everything and all the irrelevant stuff will disappear. ie. any custom properties with blank fields.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like once I select a custom property to be used in a template item, and then click save, the program should keep that custom property enabled on that template item to be used again, rather than having to enable the custom property every time.
I believe It should show up as long as the custom property has a value within said specific item. I could be wrong too though.
@Eric, you are correct. Once you show the custom property on a template, it shouldn't hide on that template unless you specially hide it. We'll look into what's causing this issue.
If you set it as visible on the template it should show up for any takeoffs (or items if it applies to items) created from the template. Note, this applies to items created from the template after the template is saved. Any items that already exist on your project will be unaffected. The reason it doesn't affect existing items is we don't want numbers on old projects changing when you adjust your templates. If it's still not working, we can have someone jump on a call with you to see if there is a bug. Or if you have a video you could create that shows it will help us get to the bottom of it.
EDIT: Lorin verified this is a bug. We will fix.
We just put out a patch for this. If you reload your page, is it working as intended now?
@Lorin I just got into the office but it seems to be working now. I'll comment back here later if I have any issues throughout the day, but so far so good! Thank you
