Error Evaluating Formula in Testing Station

Hi ZZTakeoff Family,

I ran this test in the Testing Station, and when I enter [Description] as a formula in the Name field, it returns “Error evaluating formula.”

The same error occurs in the Usage field, as shown.

This exact formula currently works perfectly in my normal ZZTakeoff under the "Name" banner as [Description] formula.

Could you please check why it’s failing in the Testing Station?

Hi Steve. Please try setting these to "Text with Tags". Does it work after that? I hope that works. We are in process of adding Text with Tags separate from Formula mode. Then Formula mode can be a true formula with functions more similar to Excel with functions for formatting, concat, etc. Text with Tags will be used for text that just needs other text replaced using [Some Property]. When this release goes live, we will automatically convert any existing properties in "Formula" mode to "Text with Tags" mode.

Just to add an update: Text with tags works correctly.

That’s what I forgot to mention earlier, in my previous test I had a word included, not a number.

I’ve now tried using numbers, and that also works as expected.

I'm glad that worked. 😊 This will be more flexible in the end by separating these 2 modes of the property. Text with Tags would be used primarily for text inputs (except text that may need to call functions) and Formula for number inputs.

The software is still a work in progress, so let’s stay calm and learn as we go. We’ll just have to learn as we go. Patience is a virtue.
