How do I Right Click on a Mac

On a Mac, there are several ways to right-click, both with a mouse and trackpad:

With a trackpad:

  • Two-finger click - Place two fingers on the trackpad and click down
  • Control + click - Hold the Control key and click with one finger
  • Corner click - If enabled in settings, click the bottom-right corner of the trackpad

With a mouse:

  • Two-button mouse - Use the right button
  • Magic Mouse - Click the right side of the mouse surface
  • Single-button mouse - Hold Control while clicking

For "Right Click and Hold to pan": Once you've initiated the right-click using any method above, keep holding it down while moving your finger/mouse to pan around the page. The key is maintaining that right-click pressure while dragging.

To enable trackpad right-click if it's not working:

  1. Go to System Preferences/Settings > Trackpad
  2. Under "Point & Click" tab
  3. Check "Secondary click" and choose your preferred method (two-finger click is most common)

The two-finger click method is usually the most intuitive for trackpad users, as it feels natural and doesn't require remembering keyboard shortcuts.
