James Brennan Assign Take-off to Areas or Zones
Is there a way to set up areas or zones like we can in OST. We often have a client that either wants to know roughly what either a phase or part of the construction is worth. In OST you can set up one condition(take-off) but set up areas or zones and when you perform the take-off you can group or sort by area, zone, type and toggle on or off any of the groups. I believe I've found a work around, but it's cumbersome

Hi James 🙂 I believe in OST it allows a zone to intersect a linear or an area for example. We are probably not going to handle it the same way they do. We would probably assign zone data at the section level, and then all the reporting becomes much more clean. If we made easy tools to define zones, and split the areas and linears at the zone intersections, would that solve what you're after?
Yes, zone intersections will work, probably better anyways?

Number 3 on our list. Glad its in the works. Side note our company uses OST right now, and I've noticed folks dont really use the "Zones" features to much. The Area feature in OST is the most used when quantities are needed to be broken out.
Either way works for us. We use both, but having one way to do it will be very helpful.
