Bidding Calendar component request

Feature request: let plugins reach approved outside sites, plus custom top tabs

We built a Bidding Calendar plugin for our estimating team. It tracks bid due dates, pre-bid meetings and RFI cutoffs, and it links each bid to its zzTakeoff project. It works well as a top tab.

We’d like it to pull events automatically from our company Google Calendar. Right now any outside request from a plugin component fails with “Failed to fetch”. That includes a Google Apps Script feed, so for now we have to export and import an .ics file by hand.

Requests:

  1. Approved outside connections for plugins. Let a workspace admin approve specific domains a plugin can reach, such as script.google.com, googleapis.com or Microsoft Graph. Even read-only access would help. A built-in “fetch” command that goes through zzTakeoff’s own servers would work too.
  2. Calendar sync, or a way to schedule plugin runs. Either a native Google/Outlook calendar connection, or a way for a plugin to run on a schedule so the data stays current without someone opening the tab.
  3. Top-tab documentation. Please document the topTabs component option and its settings (tab order, icon, label) so plugin builders know what’s supported.

This would make zzTakeoff the hub for our whole bid workflow, not just takeoff. Happy to share our plugin as an example. Thanks!

Hey Gary! Thanks for the feature requests. In our upcoming update, we are planning to introduce integrations as well as an API, which will allow you to connect/sync with applications outside of zzTakeoff.

I'll let the team know we have a request for the Google/Outlook calendar integrations, and I'll mention the tab documentation as well.
