Default Layers for new projects

Under Review

This is amazing whoever thought of this feature below that is live...but we can't use it yet until hyperlinks come thru to all layers.

Also to further this, be great to setup templates so when I open up a job it has all the concrete items preloaded on the "concrete" layer :) If the templates change, this would also get updated, need one spot to update them.

Thanks, Kyle! We're working on the hyperlink issue!

Regarding the pre-loaded templates. Is there a reason why you would want the templates loaded into the "Concrete" layer instead of click and go from the templates tab?

Get people going faster is the entire point, easier to delete items then add. What has worked best is each layer is a "bid package", so we will buy all the concrete scope on that layer.

Put your future hat in a year from now with this workflow:

  1. When I first make a project I have a "layer template package" dropdown I get to pick. Would need a few here for conceptual, hard bid and selfwork, then you get a set of takeoffs/items with that layer package. (side note...There is a major hurdle with zzTO with trying to do GC takeoffs and Selfwork in the same workspace......that needs help)
  2. I can also assign layers to people at my company, so we can group layers by people quickly. Need better people assignment control in zzTO. We do this in building connected for example
  3. This tool starts setting up my takeoff names and custom properties for me to get a ahead start. Heck even start doing takeoff for me too.

The other thing that is coming to mind with the templates is trade partners and subs. Everyone has their own "widget," yet we all buy from the same manufacturers and build the same "stuff". This week I invited three different suppliers to a project (mainly to get them quantities, but also to sell them on zz), but I need them to have the ability to grab my takeoff and then be able to apply their "widgets" easily. Our suppliers/trade partners are "behind" just like everyone else. They aren't doing a takeoff until well after I have completed mine. We need, as an industry, to be able to collaborate better than we ever have.

Love it Justin..... now I'm still waiting on your bid for the massive hanger in SLC!

Did you see that link to zzTakeoff for my quantities. Least we are starting to do this now :)
