Trade Partner Takeoff Collaboration

Add the ability to right-click (or use an Invite action) within a project to invite a trade partner to the drawing set, where clicking the invite link automatically:

  • Opens the project drawings in zzTakeoff
  • Creates a dedicated Layer named after the trade partner and tied to their user/profile
  • Sets permissions so the trade partner can edit only their own layer and view all other layers as read-only

If the trade partner already has a zzTakeoff account, they can use their own templates, assemblies, and formulas on their layer.

If they do not, they can optionally use the GC’s shared templates.

This keeps everyone quantifying on one shared set of PDFs, preserves layer ownership, and eliminates emailed takeoff files, duplicate work, and manual consolidation.

We work better together than alone.

I've been thinking about this one as well. I HATE duplicating efforts, much like if I don't have to touch it more than once, I don't want to. @Kyle - Boise Airport comes to mind right now......

Suppliers - They have their "own" system, no different from what each GC and Trade partner does.

  1. How to ensure templates/folders don't get miscombobulated, and/or how do they integrate into different workspaces/projects?
  2. "grey" folders specifically. Even if it is different layers, that would still potentially cause an issue with the folder structure. I may be missing something here.
  3. How does this affect reports?
  4. You will want to run reports showing "X", and I will want to run reports showing "Y", and suppliers will run reports showing "zz" (see what I did there).....

I like this idea, Kyle. I see what Justin's saying though - we would want the option to view reports separately from the trade partner's layer. The option to toggle it on/off in reports would be helpful.
