Global Lists For Use With Built-In or Custom Properties?

Planned

Is there something similar to Planswift's global internal "Lists" or external database connection functionality that will be included in the near future? I know there is already the "Lists" tab and it primarily focuses on use case for Products or Items at the moment.

The functionality I am after would be a little bit more integrated into the core functionality of ZZ. Example - Currently the "Usage" property is a text entry field only. I would like the ability to have a background "List" of all of the potential Usages that I would want to be able to select from to be able to tie to that core "Usage" property. Or, as an alternative, I could also see it working to instead have a formula or redirect function that references a custom property** list or external database to pull from.

**I believe some of this functionality can be accomplished by creating Custom Properties. Example - Room Location or Usage list and then adding all the Room Location's or Usages to that custom property to be accessed in a drop down. This is useful for reducing potential data deviations/variations that would spill into reports between estimators on how they name things. Someone could call something 1st Floor and another could call something First Floor. This type of global list option for properties would help keep consistency and alignment to certain aspects of the takeoff data and structure.

Hi Andrew! Yes, we are planning to integrate lists into the properties (for dropdowns). 🙂 I can see how this will be useful for consistency like you mention.

A feature that is coming out in the upcoming release is the ability to have a dropdown (in "Name" dropdown mode which allows manually entering text values) that can auto populate based on previously entered values on the project (such as 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, etc.). This should also help with consistency in values for reports on a project.

Thanks for your input. We will keep adding to the software primarily based on features requested here in our community.
