Just had a quick question about the feasibility of getting an isometric view of takeoffs we do. I don't personally care about the feature but it is something my boss keeps asking about so that he can take them in to meetings with GC's after the bid process. Is this something that is even possible and if it is how hard would it be to implement?
Hi Tyler! I'm assuming you want it isometric with 3D walls visible with heights? This is something we are considering. Long term we will definitely be entering the takeoffs in 3D as well since IFC files are becoming more common with time.
Kind of exactly what i was wondering. What you described would work perfectly for what my boss is looking for.
Sombody made a 3D rendering tool for OST and shared some viedos on Reddit last week. If this person can do that, I bet this will be a slam dunk. You need to recruit this person!

I wholeheartedly 2nd this! I know it's probably a heavy lift, but a few takeoff software companies are doing this now. They aren't as good as ZZ though, but this feature has tremendous potential for presentation with operations teams and customers. I can't place a value on how much this would help us in the precon side.
Yeah that's what my boss wants it for. Presenting our scope to GC's or customers in an easy to visualize way.
We've used the 3D plugin on Planswift for 10 years or better, but that OST Reddit post is next level. The other option is SketchUp and building a model, but that is more high-level. A good ISO 3D tool for visuals is so helpful to capture everything going vertical as well as a presentation. Please keep puching forward. We would all like to see this.
That same person from reddit reached out to me last week and said he was going to apply to work at zzTakeoff. You need to hire him :)
