I would LOVE a means of organizing our projects into different folders to archive old projects, or to organize projects into phases of development etc. Would it be possible to have workspace folders that we can move projects in and out of?
Bonus points if there's a projects page where you can see columns like time of last edit, who has edited the document etc.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the input 🙂 We will definitely be building better ways of organizing projects.
I'm curious what additional fields users would like to see at the project level for organization, sorting, filtering (in addition to what you've asked for).
Hey there Gillian! 💡
Thanks for this great suggestion! We love seeing ideas from our community about project organization. Here's a mock-up of what this could potentially look like:
The concept includes folders for different project stages, visibility of last edits and contributors, plus archiving capabilities – pretty much everything you mentioned! We'd love to hear what everyone thinks about this approach. 🤔
Would you find it helpful to have views like "New Projects", "In Progress", and "Archived" to keep things tidy? What other organization features would be most valuable to you?
Let us know your thoughts! 🙌
Note: This is just an early concept we're exploring - we're eager to hear community feedback to help shape any potential future features.
This is awesome! The only thing I can think to change is to have the folders be renamable.
Sam on this mock up, would projects marked 'completed' also be locked as discussed in another thread about this?
Excellent, please implement this ASAP!
Thanks for the great feedback everyone! 🙌
@Gillian - Love the suggestion about renamable folders! Definitely noting that down.
@Jes - Interesting point about locking completed projects. We'll explore how that could work alongside the folder organization.
@Eric - Thanks for the enthusiasm! We're carefully considering all these ideas to ensure we implement them in a way that works best for everyone.
Keep the feedback coming! 💠We're taking notes on all your suggestions to help shape potential future features.
We haven’t really needed to organize projects in OST because everything is stuck on individual computers. But as the industry shifts to web-native, multi-user platforms, this becomes a real consideration.
I’ve spoken and shot over video's of this of where this could go, and my first choice would be to integrate this functionality directly within our web base estimating platform, where we centralize all project data. I’ve also seen similar requests from tools like "Jobnibus" and others that could fit this need. Whatever solution you build, it should be flexible—allowing users to deactivate it and transition the project file structure to a different tool.
That said, this is a great discussion, and I really like the interface. A few suggestions, noting that this will require separate views for each users, as we don't want this locked into one view for all or switching when one person toggles it different.
Just some food for thought—excited to see where this goes!
