Most of the time, I copy and paste a takeoff item to reuse its name and properties without copying its measured takeoff. I want the new item to start at zero quantity, such as 0 LF.
In the “Paste Sections” dialog, I normally choose “No” and use “Do Not Show Again.” In Settings, this corresponds to “After Pasting Takeoffs” → “Do Not Paste Sections.” That is the default behavior I want to keep, and I do not want a prompt on every paste.
Occasionally, though, I need to copy the item with its actual measured takeoff and quantities. Could you add a separate “Paste with Sections” / “Paste with Takeoff” command, or a “Paste Special” option similar to Excel, that overrides the saved behavior for just that paste?
The two options would be:
• Normal Paste: continue using my saved “Do Not Paste Sections” preference, creating an empty item with the copied name and properties and no prompt.
• Paste with Sections: create a separate copy of the item with its measured takeoff/sections and quantities included, without changing my saved default.
For example, copying an item containing 125 LF would normally create a new item at 0 LF. Choosing Paste with Sections would instead create a separate copy containing the 125 LF.
The goal is to choose the alternate behavior only when I need it, without opening Settings, switching the global default, or enabling “Prompt To Paste Sections” for every paste.
Hey Greg, thanks for the feature request! I'll pass this along to the team. Perhaps we could use a hotkey to toggle the paste behavior.
