I understand that the existing template library is the proper place to maintain and standardize templates. The challenge is that when we're actively estimating projects, we often make improvements to templates but forget to go back and update the master version afterward.
A useful feature would be a system-generated archive that automatically stores the templates used within each project.
To avoid cluttering the main template dropdown, this could live inside one dedicated template library, such as “Project Template Archive.” Inside that library, each project would have its own folder containing the templates that were used or modified for that estimate.
For example:
Project Template Archive
• Project A
• Project B
• Project C
This would not replace the main template library. The main library would still be used for polished, standardized templates. This archive would simply act as a historical record and safety net for the small improvements that happen during real project takeoffs.
In short, every project would automatically become a folder inside one archive library, keeping the main dropdown clean while still making previous project templates easy to find and reuse.
