Hi @Heber Allred,
I am writing to ask for a much-needed enhancement to our current ZZ software concerning the calculation of sales taxes as per PlanSwith that some of us are using for more than a decade. Implementing the following automatic formulas as on the PlanSwift, or beater computation in future updates which would greatly improve automation and accuracy for users managing multiple tax types:
Nothing new just copy and paste from PlanSwift
1. Tax Calculations Based on Quantity and Price:
2. Include a Taxable checkbox (True/False) to determine if taxes should be applied.
3. Conditional Application Based on Taxable Status:
This setup would allow the software to automatically compute multiple sales taxes while respecting the taxable status of each item or job, streamlining invoicing and compliance processes.
Hi Steve! Thanks for posting your suggestions here. We'll be sure to add some global calculations like this.
this would be very Helpful i just had a job come back after due date and say it is tax exempt. So it would be very nice to uncheck a box and have it recalculate everything
I Have been able to work out the taxes with custom properties if someone is looking still
Curious what workflows others are using for taxes.
Here in BC, Canada we deal with two sales taxes:
• GST – 5% (federal)
• PST – 7% (provincial)
In practice, I usually only build PST into my pricing. We still charge GST to the customer, but since GST paid on materials becomes an input tax credit, it effectively nets out against the GST we collect.
So for estimating purposes I mainly worry about PST exposure, since that’s the tax that actually affects job cost.
Interested to hear how others handle this in their takeoffs or pricing workflows. Do you model both taxes, or only the one that impacts your cost?
