Sorting functionality | Projects, Takeoffs and Lists

I’m wondering if there’s a roadmap for more flexible sorting of projects, product lists, and takeoffs.

Right now, naming conventions tend to break down once numbers are introduced, and sorting is effectively tied to the project or item name. Ideally, at the project level, it would be great to choose any custom property to control sort order, essentially treating lists more like an Excel table. For example, I assume many people would like to use a closing date to sort projects.

A few other examples of where this would help me:

• Sorting product lists by cost each rather than the name or adding a coded or numeric column purely for ordering, without affecting display names

• Or preserving manual sort order, even when grey folders are used. - At the moment, takeoffs can be manually sorted, but that order seems to break once grey folders are involved.

Is there a recommended workaround today, or plans to support property-based or locked manual sorting in the future?
