And if possible to tell how long it is moving mouse / keyboard, vs idle time.

To avoid people just keeping the window open and having it sit, but still racking up time.

If you feel the need to track someone to that level then you already know they're a problem and should just let them go. I'm sure the people who just show up every day and do thier work without games just love the amount of micromanagement happening that comes with needing to know thier time spent on a specific window or how often the mouse moves.

Not to track if they are actually working or micromanaging an employee, but to get a better idea on how long it should take to do take-offs. More on a budgeting since, especially if you are planning on outsourcing take off to a 3rd party. or for training new estimators. You can get a idea if a new estimator is struggling on take offs, if you are seeing that it is taking 3-4x longer to do a take-off vs others on similar projects. Some people would rather suffer quietly then to ask for help.

Recently I trained a new person to do take offs, and noticed he has been doing them super quick, (No questions), sound great but when looking into the take off, I noticed he hasn't been looking through the plans well enough. (The reason I now he is doing them quick, is his time sheet is broken into projects). I told him to slow down, go through each plan, ask questions.

On another note, if needing to budget for outsourcing, having some realist numbers on how long it takes to do take off will help CFO on if it is worth doing in house or getting a 3rd party. If in house estimators are taking a few hours for their scope vs 3rd party taking 2x longer, it might not be worth it (Really depends on how me you pay the estimators or able to get Jr estimators training)

The keyboarding tracking vs idle time is just to get more accurate numbers.

I thought you could already see this stuff in reports if you go all the way to the right and look at the Created at/Updated at columns?

Thanks for all the input here. We have had various users that do takeoffs as a service requesting time tracking, since some of them do billing by the hour for their services. This is something we plan to add at some point, but may be a plugin or similar.
