Toggle Buttons to Hide & Show Different Takeoff Types on a Page

Completed

It would be very useful to have different toggle buttons to hide and show takeoff items on the drawings dependent on type.

For example:

- Hide/Show all Linear Takeoff Items

- Hide/Show all Area Takeoff Items

- Hide/Show all Count Takeoff Items

Hi Matthew,

We currently have a context menu on each page that currently shows

  1. Paste
  2. Show All
  3. Hide All

Refer Mockup image below which includes your suggestion. This is provided to see if we understand your requirements

In addition, we're considering a more robust solution we're working on! ✨ Instead of just toggle buttons in the context menu, we're exploring a flexible grouping system for the right sidebar where you could:

  • 📁 Group takeoffs by any property (type, layer, folder, etc.)
  • 👁️ Show/hide entire groups with a single click
  • 💾 Save these groupings as custom Views for quick switching

This approach would give you much more flexibility while keeping everything neat and tidy! 🙌 You could easily create different views for various drawing review needs or project phases.

The solution using the context menu with toggle buttons would give you quick access, while the future grouping system will offer even more powerful organization tools.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this direction! 💭

Sam,

Your mockup above is exactly what I had in mind and would be a huge time saver for the way we interact with our takeoffs.

Your grouping system listed above would also be a huge help as our scope of work typical involves a lot of subcontractors, so being able to group their takeoff items together would be amazing.

I am currently using Blue Beam.

I have all my take off tools grouped based on the things i take off on the same plan and or at the same time.

Further to that, each take off tool, is assigned to a layer.

for example, i might have six tools related to internal wall framing. Load bearing, non loadbearing, 70 mm studds 90mm studs etc. These tools are all assigned to the Wall Framing "Layer". It will include linear measurements and counts.

Then I will have various roof tie down tools based on the uplift load for the various truss points. There might be 10 or more different tools. These are all assigned to the "Truss Tie Down" Layer.

I just tried importing a Bluebeam take-off into zz. Because there is no layers, I have to do a LOT of clicking to hide all the related tools compared to hiding a layer at a time.

@Matthew

The ability to right click on the page and show/hide specific takeoff types is now available.

@Geoff

Thanks for the input. We'll discuss internally some options. We have basic layer ability right now, but will be expanding it in the future.
