Calculating Roof Strapping Using Joist or Grid Tool

Is there a way to change this so that if I am using it to calculate roof strapping, for example, which is to be installed every 20" running horizontally on a roof, it calculates the slope vertically and adds extra rows of strapping accordingly rather than adding the slope length to the length of each run?

You should be able to calculate this in your quantity formula using your roof sloping calculator. Set up a variable with the roof slope etc.

So 500mm = the black & white measure of 20"

Lets say your truss is 6.5meters on the plan and the roof pitch is 25 Deg. That run will calculate to (6.5m x 1.103) = 7.1695lm by the tape measure on the truss. 7.1695 / 0.5 will give you how many runs of strapping. As an estimator I would always round up with a +1 on the end of the formula.

So would I use the joist tool or the grid tool for this? What you said, in theory, sounds like it should work, but I don't even know where to begin setting that up haha.

Hi mate, I'd love to help with a calculation / formula for you but I'm not using ZZ Yet. I'm waiting for the ZZ powers to be to complete the import programming so I can import all my Planswift assemblies as I'm to old to start a new set. I'm sure it's easy. Anyone else can help Brandon?
