Copying Templates

Is there a way that when you copy templates, the colors remain the same? I am building my templates as phase 1, phase 2, phase 3, etc. I am building my master in phase 1 and color-coding each item to how I like. For example, RCP pipe is red, and HDPE pipe is blue. When I copy phase 1 and paste it as phase 2, all the colors change. My symbols remain the same, just not the color. Thanks.
