Drag and drop items without using digitzers.

Is there a way to create items that do not need a digitzer to work?

For example we usually throw a couple of man days into a job we are pricing. We do not want to have to nest it under a digitzer, but rather just manually input the value without it being a "takeoff" and have it show up on a report.
