Is there a way to copy and paste a takeoff item between layers?

I have one takeoff for Civil I'm having to do twice to keep each phase together. I have an overex for my asphalt that I have to do on my mass grading phase, but then I'm having to redo it to cover the asphalt during the finish Grade phase. The overex is Area/volume based as well (Example 3') and the asphalt grading has different volumes (3" of Asphalt, 6" Roadbase, 6" of E-fill for subgrade. Just wondering if there is a way to copy the actual takeoff and then paste it into the other layer. Also as someone who forgets to change layers at times, move an existing takeoff to a different Layer.
