OCR Search

Why do some pages find words from the search function in a drawing and others pages do not? This has the same architect and version etc.

Hey Perry, it really depends on who created the PDF and which text they embedded into the PDF. In this case, the architect could have embedded images of text in some places and text in others. Currently, we only OCR a page if there is no embedded text in the PDF. We are planning to address this with future updates.

Side note - There is a "workaround" that @Jes found to OCR the page by highlighting a word on the page that is not searchable and doing 'Copy to Text". Once you do that, our system OCR's the page, and that word should be searchable.

This is awesome. The workaround is great. It worked like a champ.

I can copy the text, paste the text, but it still wont Search the text. I am running into a pdf that is not allowing OCR to function, even with the work around. Any suggestions?

Hey Perry, could you send us the PDF and the text you are trying to search for to support@zztakeoff.com so we can replicate this on our end?

I wonder if the new set of plans has a minor text layer on the title block and nowhere else. Currently having the same issue on the set I'm working on

@Jes We have a developer working on this as we speak. We will have to OCR and then de-dup to remove any duplication between the PDF text and the OCR text. Improving text accuracy will be important for MCP, etc.
