Overlays Between Associated Revisions

Hello! I am having trouble with overlays if my plans are already associated. I do the association when I upload because thats the easiest, but then it doesn't seem like zz can differentiate the two pages for overlaying. If I update my "base" page to a specific revision, it automatically switches the "overlay" page to the same revision. Am I doing something wrong?
