Good morning all. I'm presuming ZZ has item pricing as well as the takeoff abilities.
So, If I have an ITEM for 25Mpa concrete priced at $285.00 m3
Then I put that item into three assemblies - Strip Footing, Piers & Slab using formulas etc....
If I change the price back on that first item (my original price file item), do the prices in the items that are in the assemblies change too?
Are they linked, can they be linked?
As Industry predicts, we are having price rises every quarter here and to just change the one "master" item in a price file would be a godsend.
Cheers,
Mark.
Hi, you should be able to do this using Items and Products. You can choose a product from a product list that is a child of an item. This allows multiple Items to use the same Product. Then when you edit the Product, and try to use the item, it will copy the Product values at the time of creating the Item.
Hi Stephen, is there somewhere I could find info on creating a product that is a child of an item? Thanks.
Hi, let me find a video for you. Basically you create a parts list under Lists. Then on any item, you can add parts from the list by choosing that list from the dropdown.
Ah I see, found it. This doesn't work if you use templates though. You have to create the take off and assign the item as new every time to pull current pricing. Is that correct?
Hi Stephen,
That's kinda' what I will be doing. I'm thinking along the lines of PS where it linked to MS Access. Once you have used that child item in an assembly / recipe, the the price for that particular product is on its own. ie, price goes up in three months, the item is stuck with the old pricing.
No biggie though - I would much prefer the program to be based on the estimator, not the accountant!
If you store your prices in products, then your templates just reference the products. This means they copy the product to the takeoff when the template is used. You can update your prices in one spot, and then when used in new jobs via templates, they will use the new prices.
