Inheritances: How to get all questions and answers during takeoff effort to obtain the quanitites need for materials, labor,subs & equipment to inherit.

I'm in SLC at a ABC event and can't make it. There is so much confusion on Reports due to the "takeoff" and "items". Our users are starting to use a hybrid....when they do that they ask me, well how do I see a report that has all my "Takeoffs" and "Items" on one report......my answer is.....you can't.
Topic I'd love to hit on. Best practice setting up our environment coming from OST. I'm of the opinion that best practice needs to be at the item level which is extremely hard for OST users who are use to the "takeoff /parent" level. How do we best use items, and further more, how do we use Lists to help us.......as Lists seem way overkill for us GC's, we even do selfwork too and dont see the use case that is worth all this complication?
If we can get AI to auto-suggest the List item from our Ediphi Database, we might have something......tho I still dont even get how the List helps us. Anyone who uses List can help me here?
