Problem: Text that sits sideways on a sheet, rotated +90° (reading bottom to top), is missing from zzTakeoff’s sheet text. It’s real text in the PDF, but it doesn’t show up in the sheet Search box, Pages.searchText or Pages.extractText (any format, including source = ocr or merged). Text rotated −90° on the same sheet comes through fine.
On architectural plans this drops door tags, room numbers and other labels drawn sideways, so text searches and anything counting from them come up short with no warning. There’s also no OCR option on a sheet that already has text, so there’s no way to work around it.
Ask: Include +90° rotated text in the sheet text layer, with its coordinates and rotation, the same way −90° text is included.
Hey Greg! The search automatically combines PDF-embedded text (if it exists) and OCR'd text. All pages are OCR'd, but we have had some cases where it struggles with rotated text, which could be one reason why the +90 is not showing up. Could you send the plan to support@zztakeoff.com or to our website chat so we can verify on our end?
