Takeoffs between planset versions

Under Review

How are you all handling takeoffs between different drawing versions (SD, DD, CD) or addenda?

I like to have the "record" and paper trail so that I know I started with these items and they were "X" qty.

Typically, I would have a folder that is labeled SD, and that folder would house all of my other takeoff folders that pertain to this set. Once the DD set came out, I would duplicate the folders and redo my takeoff on the new drawings. There was a shortcut in PS where I could copy my takeoff items from sheet "X" and paste them on the corresponding sheet for the DD set. PS would ask me if I wanted to paste these takeoffs into the same item(s) or paste them into new item(s).

I don't see the different paste options in zz, so I could duplicate the job, and do my updated takeoff there, but that seems more complicated than it should be.

Let me know what you are doing, and what I can do to improve my logic.

Hi Justin. The next release will have a "Paste as New" option. This should help a lot. We will also have a version control system which will help for swapping out specific pages with revisions.

Kyle has mentioned in some of his previous posts how he is doing similar to yours with different plan sets in folders. How you (and Kyle) are doing it with folders & layers may be the best flow when the plan sets have significant changes.

Thanks for the update. I was reading Plansets & Versioning on the inside track this morning, and it appears that you are all on the right track.
