Template Changes Getting Lost Inside Takeoffs

I dont know about the rest of you, but I find myself modifying / improving templates inside actual takeoffs. Then a new project comes along and I realize the version I want only exists buried inside an old takeoff somewhere.

I get why templates and project-specific changes are separate things, but I feel like there has to be a smarter way to handle this. Curious if others run into the same issue or have found a workflow that keeps templates evolving without turning into a mess.

Hoping a conversation eventually turns into a banger of a feature request.
