User Roles

Under Review

When I'm looking at the Workspace Users, can you help me understand the difference between Role and License? At first glance it seems to be redundant, but I'm sure I'm missing something.

Hi Perri! 👋

Great question about User Roles vs Licenses in the Workspace Users section!🎯

Licenses (Pro, Collaborator, Viewer) determine what features and tools a user can access:

  • Pro License - Full takeoff estimating and annotation capabilities
  • Collaborator License - Annotation, and some setup of Projects
  • Viewer License - Read-only access

Roles (Owner, Administrator, Takeoff, Collaborator, Viewer) determine what permissions and responsibilities they have within the workspace.

The genius here is the flexibility! 💡 An Owner or Administrator might choose to use only a Collaborator or Viewer License, freeing up that valuable Pro License for their Estimators or Takeoff Technicians who need the full feature set for their daily work.

This setup lets you optimize your license allocation based on who actually needs the advanced tools vs. who just needs oversight/management access. Smart resource management! 📊

I've forwarded your question to our development team to potentially add this explanation to our help documentation! 📋
