Types of Multipliers

Any other types of multipliers you think we would need?

  • Page Multiplier
  • Takeoff Multiplier
  • Section Multiplier
  • Item Multiplier

I'm guessing users would want these to compound...for example if you had a 2X multiplier on a an area section for a page, and a 2X multiplier on the page, it would combine as 4X?

Any input welcome.

Maybe also a measurement multiplier will be fine.

For example, lets say I want to measure a wall for Masonry Veneer estimation. Only that this wall has veneer in both sides, not only one. So with the multiplier for measurements I can add a 2x multiplier to wall area to estimate both sides for the same wall.

Lineal Foot, Square Foot, Area, & Wall Area multipliers would be a great addition. I like to use the 'show legend' feature on my pages when doing takeoffs, so a multiplier feature would be an awesome addition to categorize takeoffs and display info right off hand.

I think we are over-complicating this and I'm afraid this is a rabbit hole not worth going down till we get other priorities hit. My 2 cents is the only thing we need is the page multiplier that is a fundamental blocker from using zzTO. All other multipliers can be handled at the item level no problem using formulas.......why fix what's already solved?

I also would ask for typical groups that also do multipliers, but again that is such a low use feature and bottom of the list in my book.

We would benefit from the Takeoff Multiplier.

Iโ€™m gonna say I donโ€™t agree here. Page may be most useful of the lot but creating a custom multiplier for a takeoff using custom properties requires foresight when building every single template. Iโ€™d like this baked in like waste% and markup

I have a common situation where a single plumbing drawing that is meant to show scope of work for 8-10 floors for a single zone of domestic water and often includes drainage.

the drainage, would require a multiplier but the domestic ring mains do not . This is a common situation if we want to do page only we should at least be able to omit certain takeoffs from the page multiplier. But I would honestly prefer both

"takeoff stamp" - for example, being able to draw a box around one type of apartment, and simply counting how many they are to multiply it. definitely need this

I do get the complication though I imagine this doesnโ€™t roll out all at once.

if adding a multiplier to a takeoff one might assume incorrectly itโ€™s only multiplying the one instance on the page theyโ€™re working on. Maybe when using a multiplier on a takeoff thereโ€™s a pop up asking do you want to apply this multiplier to all instances of this takeoff or create new with said multiplier

also if a multiplier is added

to a page and there is already a multiplier set on a takeoff within that

page you could get a pop up warning

If we added a multiplier to a Page, would you expect it to apply to all layers or only the current layer?

Ability 153d 23h

I prefer it only for the current Layer by default. I usually use layer to isolate takeoffs not related to each other. Should apply to current.
