Tutorial 5 - Segment and Linear Takeoffs

In recent feature updates our development team just keeps knocking it out of the park with zzTakeoff's many options for linear and segment takeoffs. Let's navigate to our takeoff screen and select Linear. Once this opens, you will start to see some very familiar choices for color, measurements, opacity, but when you select the measurement type dropdown, you will see an amazing list of options ranging from Flat Linear, Linear with Wall Height, Linear with Wall Height and Width, Linear with Width, Linear with width and Depth, Sloped area, Hip and Valley Linear and to round this list off, Hip Valley with 2 Slopes.

When you make your selection and choose any measurement type that has a width that is being measured, there is a scaled check box that will allow the user to see the actual scaled width of the line measured on the plan sheet. There is also the option of what side of the line that it will be measure to, Left , Right or Center. This is very useful while performing takeoffs and or using the snap button. Remember this can be changed as needed.

Each measurement type will have options for either wall height, width, pitch and even depth. The Segment Measurement has the same options, but will measure segments instead of continual linear counts. For now let's choose Linear with Width and enter the width of 3 feet and 6 inches, select our favorite color and choose Left for our Side of the line. Once we are ready we can select the blue button Start Takeoff. We are now ready to measure a linear takeoff. If you make a mistake, you can simply select backspace on your keyboard and continue to count. When you are finished click on the green check at the top of your screen.
