Checking the Scale on Plans

Accurately understanding the scale of your plans is crucial for precise measurements and successful project execution. zzTakeoff provides tools to help you verify and adjust plan scales quickly.

Steps to Check the Scale

  1. Open the Plan
  2. Navigate to the project and open the plan you want to check.
  3. Locate a Known Dimension
  4. Find a dimension on the plan that has a clearly marked measurement, such as a door width or wall length.
  5. Measure in zzTakeoff
  6. Use the measurement tool to measure the distance on the plan.
  7. Compare to the Known Dimension
  8. Compare the measurement from zzTakeoff to the actual dimension on the plan.
  • Verify or Adjust the ScaleIf the measurement matches the known dimension, the scale is correct.
  • If it does not match, you may need to manually set or adjust the scale using the Set Scale tool.
  1. Confirm Accuracy
  2. Double-check several measurements to ensure the scale is consistent across the plan.

Tips for Accuracy

  • Always measure horizontal and vertical dimensions to verify scale consistency.
  • Avoid measuring distorted areas of scanned plans.
  • Save any changes after adjusting the scale to prevent errors in takeoffs.

Checking the scale before starting your takeoff ensures accurate material and labor quantities, reducing errors and rework.
