Creating Page Folders

Overview

Page folders in zzTakeoff help you organize plan sheets within a project. Instead of keeping all pages in one long list, folders allow you to group drawings by trade, discipline, building area, or sheet type (such as Architectural, Structural, Electrical, or Plumbing). 📁

Using page folders makes it easier to navigate large projects, manage multiple plan sets, and keep your takeoff workflow organized.

When to Use Page Folders

You should create page folders when:

  • Working with large plan sets
  • Organizing sheets by trade or discipline
  • Managing multiple buildings or phases
  • Separating architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
  • Keeping revisions or plan versions grouped together

How to Create a Page Folder

Step 1: Open Your Project

  1. Sign in to zzTakeoff
  2. Open the workspace
  3. Select your project
  4. Navigate to the Pages section

Step 2: Create a Folder

  1. Click New Folder (or Folder icon)
  2. Enter a folder name
  3. Click Create

The new folder will now appear in your page list.

Step 3: Add Pages to the Folder

You can move pages into the folder by:

  • Dragging and dropping pages into the folder
  • Selecting pages and choosing Move to Folder
  • Uploading new pages directly into the folder

Best Practices for Page Folders

Organize by Trade

Create folders such as:

  • Architectural
  • Structural
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Plumbing

This helps estimators quickly find the correct sheets.

Organize by Building or Area

For large projects, use folders like:

  • Building A
  • Building B
  • Site Plans
  • Parking Garage
  • Exterior Elevations

This keeps complex projects easy to navigate.

Separate Revisions

Use folders to manage different plan versions:

  • Original Plans
  • Revision 1
  • Revision 2
  • Addenda

This prevents confusion between outdated and current drawings.

Editing or Renaming a Folder

  1. Right-click the folder
  2. Select Rename
  3. Enter the new name
  4. Click Save

Deleting a Folder

  1. Right-click the folder
  2. Select Delete Folder
  3. Confirm deletion
