Naming & Renaming Pages

Overview

Naming and renaming pages in zzTakeoff helps keep your project organized and easy to navigate. Clear page names make it simple to locate drawings, understand sheet content, and collaborate with team members efficiently.

You can rename individual pages or update multiple pages at once to match your project’s naming standards.

Why Page Naming Matters

Proper page naming helps you:

  • Quickly locate specific drawings
  • Maintain consistency across project sheets
  • Improve collaboration with team members
  • Reduce confusion during takeoff
  • Align with architectural or construction sheet naming conventions

Naming Pages When Uploading

When you upload plan sheets to a project, zzTakeoff automatically assigns page names based on:

  • File name
  • Sheet title
  • AI detection (if enabled)

You can edit these names before or after uploading.

Steps to Name Pages During Upload

  1. Upload your plan sheets to the project
  2. Review the detected page names
  3. Click on the page name field
  4. Enter the correct name
  5. Save or confirm the upload

Renaming a Single Page

If a page name needs to be corrected or updated, you can rename it at any time.

Steps to Rename a Page

  1. Open your project
  2. Navigate to the Pages panel
  3. Locate the page you want to rename
  4. Click on the page name
  5. Type the new name
  6. Press Enter or click outside the field to save

The page name will update immediately.

Renaming Multiple Pages

For large projects, you can rename several pages quickly using batch tools.

Common Batch Renaming Uses

  • Adding prefixes (A-, S-, M-, E-)
  • Standardizing sheet numbering
  • Removing unwanted text
  • Applying consistent naming across all pages

Steps to Batch Rename Pages

  1. Open your project
  2. Go to the Pages section
  3. Select multiple pages
  4. Click Batch Rename
  5. Choose your naming format or rule
  6. Apply the changes

All selected pages will update automatically.

Best Practices for Page Naming

  • Use consistent naming conventions
  • Include sheet numbers when possible
  • Keep names short and descriptive
  • Match architectural sheet naming standards
  • Avoid duplicate names
  • Use prefixes for discipline types (A, S, M, E, etc.)

Example Naming Structure

  • A1.0 – Floor Plan
  • A2.1 – Elevations
  • S1.0 – Structural Plan
  • M1.0 – Mechanical Layout
  • E1.0 – Electrical Plan

Tips

  • Use AI batch rename for large drawing sets
  • Rename pages before starting takeoff to stay organized
  • Keep naming consistent across shared workspaces
  • Review page names after uploading new plan sets
