Uploading Revisions

Overview

Construction plans often change throughout a project. Uploading Revisions in zzTakeoff allows you to add updated plan sheets while keeping your existing pages, takeoffs, and project organization intact. This helps you track changes, maintain version history, and ensure your team is always working from the latest drawings.

Uploading revisions ensures:

  • Updated plan sets replace outdated sheets
  • Previous versions remain available for reference
  • Takeoffs stay organized and accurate
  • Teams work from the most current drawings

When to Upload Revisions

You should upload revisions when:

  • New plan sets are issued by architects or engineers
  • Sheets are updated with changes or corrections
  • Addenda or updated bid documents are released
  • New versions of drawings replace previous ones

Uploading revisions keeps your project current without creating duplicate pages or losing work.

What Happens After Upload

After revisions are uploaded:

  • Updated sheets replace old versions
  • Previous versions are saved for reference
  • Takeoffs remain on their original pages
  • New sheets are added if they did not previously exist
  • The project stays organized and up to date

This allows teams to continue working without losing progress.

Best Practices

Upload Revisions Immediately

Add new plan sets as soon as they are released to avoid working on outdated drawings.

Review Sheet Matching

Always confirm that sheets are correctly matched before approving.

Keep Revision Names Clear

Use consistent naming such as:

  • Rev 1
  • Rev 2
  • Addendum A
  • Bid Set Updated

Communicate with Your Team

Let team members know when revisions are uploaded so they can review changes.

Common Issues

Sheets Do Not Match

Check that sheet names in the revised file match the original plan set.

Duplicate Sheets Appear

This usually happens when sheet names are different in the revised version.

Rename sheets or manually match them before uploading.

Wrong Revision Uploaded

You can upload a new revision to replace it or remove the incorrect sheets.

Tips for Efficient Revision Management

  • Upload full revised plan sets instead of individual sheets
  • Keep naming consistent across versions
  • Review changes before continuing takeoffs
  • Use folders to organize revisions if needed

This keeps your project clean and easy to manage.
