I am new at using zzTop, but one feature [probably already here but can't find] I'd love to see is a see all layers at once. Our current work flow is each estimator is setting their own layer for their work, but I would love to be able to have a feature to see all layers. This would help me look from a 30,000 foot elevation to see blanks or things that haven't been accounted for on each page.
About time you post here! Yeah I know that’s in the works to view all layers for you “overload” type people.
check out the reports tab too, you can view all the takeoff there at once and sort it to your hearts desire.
I figured out how to do that, but I'm a visual person and love looking for the color white on plans
Perhaps its a workflow problem, have you tried to have everyone takeoff on the same layer?
I have the main hurdle is if user A turns off a object with the eyeball, user B it shuts it off on their end.
I see this also being a concern, as going back to your (@Kyle) post on Trade Partner collab as well. If you do your takeoffs on layer "X", and I do mine on layer "Y", how do you know that we are complete if you can't see everything at the same time?
Not sure if this is how others are think about layers, but I would like to have a "Grouping of take off measurements" that can easily be toggleable.
Similar to a plan ("Layer") inside a plan, and within that layer, measurement are done. If you want to collapse or hide, a toggle can be done. (To help group scopes together, like if a demo plan has both flooring and ceiling and hvac mixed together) (Currently just duplicating the plan)
Or if you have multiple people doing one take off, but don't want them to interfere with other measurements, each user can create their own layer. (Would also like an overlay comparison, so multiple users don't double count the same thing)
Also to have overlay as a layer (It kind of already like that)
Also to have revision/updated plans as a layer
Have layers lockable to others
Have layers viewable to certain users
Have layers copiable/moveable to others plans or as a standalone plan
So in short, similar to an old school overhead projector, the sheets are layers, markers are measurements, and we are the kids making a mess.
Showing all layers would be awesome! I notified the dev team about your request.
