Quantities to be visible within a hidden folder

Could there be an ability to make a single or several items visible within a hidden folder? Currently when hiding the entire folder and trying to "turn on" one TO item, a red message is displayed which says ["Cannot change visibility. This item inherits its hidden state from a parent that is currently hidden"]. It seems that currently we can only have the entire folder "visible or hidden".
