I second this.

Yep I posted a feature request for this last month

James Allred zzTakeoff10d 10h

As noted in the post that Jes linked in his comment, this feature is planned.

For linear measurements this would work. But for an area, breaking the point would make it so it's no longer an enclosed area. So it seems like it may not be possible for an area. Unless I'm missing something.

Thank you for the feedback! The development team has this working for linears and segments on our test server. After further testing, we will release it on the live server.

On the inside track test environment this feature for break apart is live and working on linear takeoffs. I do agree with James and couldn't conceptualize how that break apart would even work with the area takeoff type.... unless you are thinking along the lines of where you want to slice a section off of a main area (like breaking out a closet from the main room), which would be pretty cool. I use RFMS Measure for flooring takeoffs and they have area tools that allow for that where you can deduct out chunks of an area on the perimeter or you can separate out areas into 2 different areas.

Also following up as I re-read the original title to this feature request. With an area, you can double click or click the little trash icon on one of the points and it will remove just that point (you'd still have to have at a minimum of 3 points to be an area) .... didn't know if that was essentially what Mustafa was wanting to accomplish and didn't know it would already do that by double clicking to remove existing points without needing to delete the whole area.

Just thinking out loud, but how about an area cut tool. Think of it like scissors cutting down an area. When it finishes the cut, it will create new points on both side of the cut line (on both ends), linking the new points to the other end, and removing the in-between line from the starting points (technically have a very thing slice of nothing in between, since it made 1 area, into two areas). This will "separate" both areas, without removing anything. Then when you want to change or move a section, it will be as if it was its own section.
