Resize original when using Offset

I would very much use a feature on the offset options to "resize original" this would resize the original takeoff and not create a new one or convert it to anything. 99% of the time when I am using offset I am creating a new area offset and then deleting the original. If there is already a way to do this then let me know. Thanks.
