Typical Group Takeoff on Steroids

Under Review

Hi, I wasn't sure whether to add this to the existing request for "Typical Group Takeoff" because I think the dev team would not see my comment in the existing post. Therefore, I decided to begin a new one. If this is not the case, let me know and I will move it over to that other post.

Basically, it's the same request: a way to group multiple takeoffs and be able to multiply them by a number. In my case, for apartment buildings, this is useful for typical apartment units. However, the OST is limited if the height for the same apartment varies across multiple floors/levels. This is where I say to put this OST feature on steroids, figuratively. It is one of the features that keeps me from upgrading to ZZTakeoff from PlanSwift. And actually, it goes beyond being able to have multiple heights. It needs to also be able to break out the height into multiple heights. In my case, with drywall, we usually have the height from floor to deck of each floor/level, then also the height from floor to ceiling, and then there is the space in between, sometimes called plenum or interstitial space. So there are 3 different values for the height. Having these values available allows us to calculate the drywall for exposed locations (easy install), and then what is called pre-rock, that is difficult to install.

I used to spend many hours dealing with large projects with typical units but different heights, and also when making changes to the typical units when new plan revisions come out. It is really a very time-consuming task, but it is easier with the right tools.

It's possible; with PlanSwift, I put together some templates with custom properties. Hopefully, something similar or better can be implemented.

Hey Arturo, thanks for the request and the detailed screenshots. It helps a lot.🙂 This is currently under review by our development team.

I know the team is planning to expand our custom properties to add support for formulas (we just added support in the takeoff/item name), which should help us replicate what you have done in PlanSwift, along with our implementation of what we were thinking of calling a "Takeoff Stamp".
