Best way to use layers?

What are you guys finding for the best way to use layers? Is it revision sets? Systems? addenda? would like to know what's working and what's not

We're using layers for estimate breakouts (e.g., area a, area b, area c, etc.).

We are a small team that don't typically work on the same drawings at the same time.

We have huge teams. each person takes a layer. Generally each bid tab has a layer, which has worked the best in the regions that use that workflow. Here is one I'm working on right now with a team:

I use layers for drawings sets and VE options, then can easily sort in the reports. One caution, I needed to get into the habit of ensuring I was in the layer I wanted before I started new takeoffs, I don't think there is an easy way to just move takeoffs from one layer to another. (I know takeoffs can be copied and pasted but not sure about a straight move)

@Kyle how does you and your team handle breakouts, VE options, alternates?

I use layers when there are multiple structures in the same project, as well as for revisions

@Victor,

We have a enterprise standard for breakouts that flows with how Ediphi works its called "use group" in example below we have to takeoff by building, so we all use it.

As another option for people we have another grey folder called "alternate" that people case use as the 2ndary breakout sort. The flexible approach is the yellow folders people can use ad-hawk if they need as well, but that is not encouraged.
