creating my variables in a folder?

Hey Anthony, are you trying to add custom properties to the folder, and have those properties inherit down to the child takeoffs? We have a tutorial on how to add custom properties. In Applies to, you would choose Folder to apply the custom property to folders.

We also have a video that explains how to use inheritance to inherit properties from parents/folders down to the child takeoffs/items.

nono, i just mean in the takeoff area i can make folders, but then i cant create something from the template area in the folder, does that make sense? I've found something that kidan works, but it's not the same and is alot more sensitive

Are you saying that when you launch a takeoff from a template, you want it to go into a certain folder automatically?

For example, if you have a template inside of a "Drywall Folder", if you start that takeoff from the template, do you want the drywall folder to also be created in the takeoffs tab?

more like, i'd like it if i could put it into any folder directly upon creating a new one, and maybe have a scrollable list of folders that exist in my project? i'm used to having a little bar for folders in the template menu, but i think i can survive without it (:

If I understand you correctly when you Launch a Takeoff from Templates a Properties Dialog opens up and you have a Folder Field that you can Type in to Create a New Folder or Lookup an Existing Folder in zzTakeoff. Similar to Planswift.

Yes Sam! that is exactly what i was asking about! i was really struggling to describe it, but that was what i was trying to ask about!! :D

@Sam, if the mockup does become an actual thing, could it also Hold the folder you pick for future takeoff items until you change it or give it a new folder name?
