Hensel Phelps Top 7 Feature Requests, Ranked by Order of Priority.

Planned

Keep on improving and love the tool! Let's setup a call if you want to dive deeper in any of these.

1. Multiple Variables on Points

  • Assign multiple variables (e.g. length + height) to a single point for area/volume/other outputs.

2. Graphical Accuracy for Shapes and Line Widths

  • Drawings should visually match real-world dimensions:
  • 5'x5' square looks like 5'x5'
  • 12" wide line displays as 12"

3. Breaking Out Quantities by Area or Scope (Critical Feature)

  • Need to figure out best way to breakout takeoff. IE if you have all doors on one page, but you need to separate them to Tenant A vs Tenant B.
  • Include select and reassign workflows for bulk changes by geography or are
  • Perhaps a Split Tool could be used to do this. It would break lines/shapes and reassign parts to different zones (Tenant A vs Tenant B, etc.) Split tool will be needed when AI starts drawing shapes.

4. Folder Structure & Custom Classification Enhancements

  • Fix gray/yellow folder toggle behavior
  • Add drag & drop or panel reassignment of takeoff items in the grey folders
  • Enable multi-select (shift/ctrl click) and batch edit of classifications
  • Allow users to create or clone custom folder/code structures (aka “alias custom codes”)

5. Integration with Ediphi

  • Get projects pointed to zzTO and Ediphi, so when you open Ediphi, you can access zzTO.
  • Build out data connection or sync between ZZTakeoff and Ediphi for seamless estimating workflows

6. Handling Projects vs. Drawing Files

  • Organize projects to handle multiple drawing sets (SD, DD, CD)
  • Track drawing versions and associate them under a single project

7. Improved and Standardized Reports

  • Allow custom templates share with company and flexible output formatting

Awesome! Thanks Kyle, this is a perfect checkoff list for us. We'll get working on these. It's crazy to think zzTakeoff's birthday was a couple days ago on July 1 (the day we decided to dive in and build a takeoff tool). 1 year old. We're excited to see where we can be in another year! 😀

That #6 item would be huge. Being able to update the drawings without needing to create a new folder/project would be extremely helpful. It would allow us to maintain and alter our takeoffs as the plan sets evolve. It would also be very helpful to have an option to compare revisions. We could apply a Construction Set to the Permit set and with a toggle or something, the differences between the pages could be marked in red and blue (blue for lines on the old set that no longer exist and red for lines on the new set that weren't on the previous set).

This is one of the things I am most nervous about with ZZ. When I receive a new revision, how would I keep up with them?

Thanks for the additional feedback Alex. We will be sure to handle multiple drawing sets & revisions in the future. We'll keep pushing as fast as possible to add these needed features.

Message from customer. Auto-hatching patterns needs to be our number 4 out of 8 in our feature requests.  Thanks @Manbert, Rob for the bump.

Hey Kyle, our latest release adds length/width/depth on a point count, along with drag & drop between the "Group By" folders. 🙂
